How Portable Copied Me - Terry G

Nigerian singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has accused controversial musician Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, of copying his dramatic character, News About Nigeria reports.

In an interview for the most recent episode of the podcast ‘The Honest Bunch’, which debuted on Monday night, Terry G claimed that while Portable copied his style, he had not succeeded in replicating his musical essence.

The ‘Akpako Master’ crooner also added that Portable did not take his time to learn the instrumental aspect of music but primarily depended on his vocals, which is not enough.

“Portable picked up the acting part of me. He didn’t pick the musical part of me. Music is about the instruments. Is it only about your voice? He didn’t create time to learn any instruments,” he said.

Similarly, Terry G alleged that his colleague, Burna Boy, is a bigger artist when compared to Wizkid and Davido.

According to him, Davido is “king” only in Africa, not all around the globe and internationally.

Speaking further, he noted that Africans can’t relate to Wizkid’s songs because of his style of music, but Burna Boy, on the other hand, is big both in “Africa and internationally.”

Speaking in Pidgin, Terry G said, “The Wizkid versus Davido debate to me is lame. Davido is the king of Africa. He has an African audience. He sings unapologetic African music. But Wizkid’s mindset is targeted at crossover. His music no dey too relate to us [Africans]. Burna Boy na im get Africa and International. He is their king. Burna pass two of them.”
