Japa: Many Nigerians In Diaspora Do Menial Jobs They Refused To Do In Nigeria - Remi Tinubu

The wife of President Bola Tinubu, Oluremi Tinubu, has berated Nigerians abroad who do menial jobs that they couldn’t do while in Nigeria, News About Nigeria reports.

The first lady lamented the impact of ‘Japa’ on Nigerians, who, according to her, no longer work hard to grow the nation but are working tirelessly just to gather the money they need to leave the country.

Tinubu, who said this during an interview with Arise News on Thursday, charged Nigerians to look inward, noting that there is a lot of potential for greatness in the country.

She further noted that, instead of running away from Nigeria to go and do menial jobs that they cannot do in the country, Nigerians should shun ‘japa’ and focus on building a good career here in the country.

Speaking on the current economic challenges, the first lady noted that the President Bola Tinubu-led government is working tirelessly towards ensuring that the economy becomes better and that Nigerians will definitely smile again.

The former senator also encouraged Nigerians to help each other amid the economic crisis which is currently bedevilling the nation.

She said, “Nigerians we can help each other. It’s not that the government will begin to give food to everybody. It is for people God has blessed to help the poor. Even those people saying they are going to Japa, they go there. What work are they going to do?

“Work that you refused to do at home where you have loved ones, you end up going to do that. Even with all their education, they are driving cabs but won’t drive cabs here.”
