Ondo: Security Challenges At Border Worrisome - Amotekun

The Ondo state security outfit codenamed, Amotekun, has stated that the security challenges being experienced at the borders of the state are worrisome, News About Nigeria reports.

The commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, stated this while parading 43 suspected kidnappers and other criminals in Akure, the state capital.

He noted that the state still battles with security threats on the borders, especially the Kogi/Ondo border and the Edo/Ondo border, stating that the government should aid them in overcoming these threats.

He, however, mentioned that the State’s security outfit is collaborating with other security agencies including the Army from Kogi and Ondo, Police from Kogi and Ondo, to ensure that the rate of crimes especially kidnapping is reduced to the barest minimum in the state.

“As of yesterday morning, a combined team of security men, specifically the Army from Kogi and Ondo, Police from Kogi and Ondo joined hands together to try to fish out the perpetrators of the last kidnapping around the Akunu/Ayere axis in Kogi/Ondo,” he said.

He stated that the increasing rate of crimes is happening in the communities where the government has no grassroots local security for the security outfit to work with.

He further attributed the ugly development to the heavy presence of security personnel in Ekiti State and lamented the increase in the cases of kidnapping in the state.

He noted that the people of the community joined and collaborated with the Amotekun to fish out criminals on the orders of the governor.

According to him, “We have been able to go this far because the governor specifically gave a directive to fish out all these perpetrators of evil, especially along the border.”
