Ondo: Aiyedatiwa Dissolves Executive Council, Senior Aides

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council (SEC), News About Nigeria reports.

The dissolution, communicated through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Wednesday, directs all members of the cabinet to promptly hand over their duties to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office 28 days ago following the demise of the former governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The decision to dissolve the SEC comes as part of the new governor’s efforts to restructure and reposition the state’s leadership.

Additionally, the announcement extends to the relief of all senior special assistants (SSAs) and special assistants (SAs) of their duties, effective immediately.

The affected officials are instructed to complete a comprehensive handover of all government properties in their possession.

Expressing gratitude for the services and contributions made by the affected officials to the state’s development, Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged their efforts.

This comes weeks after Aiyedatiwa issued a directive for the suspension of caretaker chairmen in the 18 local government areas and 33 local council development areas (LCDAs) in the state.

News About Nigeria reported that the order was conveyed in a letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, signed by Alonge Adewale.

According to the letter, the directive is in response to the knowledge that some people, despite the suspension of recently appointed caretaker committee members by a court of competent jurisdiction, continue to operate in their former positions.

The letter instructs the Heads of Local Government Administration in all LGAs/LCDAs to assume responsibility as heads of their respective areas in an acting capacity until the resolution of all legal matters related to the subject.
