Najeebah, one of the six sisters from the Al-Kadriyar family who were kidnapped by bandits in the Bwari area of Abuja, has described her ordeal at the hands of kidnappers as one of the greatest tests of her life, News About Nigeria reports.
The family had faced a harrowing ordeal since the abduction, with one of the sisters, Nabeeha, tragically losing her life at the hands of the kidnappers.
The abduction took place on January 2, when six members of the Al-Kadriyar family were kidnapped from their home in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.
Last week, News About Nigeria reported that the abductors raised the ransom from N60 million to N100 million and issued threats to kill the remaining sisters if their demands were not met.
The rescue operation, led by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, was successful in freeing the kidnapped victims.
The operation took place in the Kajuru forest in Kaduna State, and the rescued sisters have been reunited with their families.
Expressing her gratitude on social media, one of the rescued sisters, Najeeba, shared her appreciation: “Alhamdulilah. I’m immensely grateful for your prayers and support throughout this ordeal. This was the greatest test of my life, but wallah Allah’s mercy was bountiful as well as it was endless. Thank you all so much.”
The police public relations officer for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Josephine Adeh, confirmed the successful rescue operation.
She stated, “Following the relentless advancement of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command anti-kidnapping squad in a concerted effort with troops of the Nigerian Army, on the heels of the kidnappers that struck the Zuma 1 area in the Bwari Area Council on the 2nd of January 2024, the FCT Police has rescued the victims and reunited them with their families.”
