Keyamo Urges Air France-KLM To Offer Low-Priced Fares To Nigerians

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has revealed why the agency is relocating its headquarters from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja to Lagos.

According to the agency, the relocation of the office would primarily help them reduce costs.

According to a statement released by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, the relocation of the headquarters was considered to be in the best interest of the authority.

According to her, the move of the Authority’s headquarters to Abuja in the first place was not the best decision, as FAAN has no building in Abuja that could accommodate workers at once.

She further explained that, because of the lack of accommodation, many of the workers who are supposed to work in FAAN Abuja have relocated back to Lagos to work from the Lagos facility as there is no office space for them in the Abuja office.

Orah also explained that since the officers relocated back to Lagos, the authority is expected to pay them their duty tour allowance because they are working out of the station, which was meant to be the Abuja office.

She further stated that most of the activities carried out by the agency are in Lagos because of the huge passenger volume of the Lagos airports, so instead of wasting money renting a conducive building in Abuja, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, had to opt for relocation to save the nation from wasting funds.

Orah, however, noted that, though Keyamo has revealed that he has plans to construct suitable offices for FAAN in both Lagos and Abuja, the FAAN will maintain its management of the building in Lagos because it can accommodate all the Authority’s directors and senior officials.

She also revealed that the Abuja offices are still fully functional, with no reduction in operations, but not as headquarters anymore because the headquarters is now in Lagos.

News About Nigeria reports that Keyamo, on January 15, 2024, issued a directive for the relocation of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s headquarters from Abuja to Lagos.
