LP Writes SGF, Labour Minister, Others, Demand Ajaero's Sanction

The president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, has revealed that 2024 will be a year where workers in Nigeria will experience better working conditions, News About Nigeria reports.

Ajaero disclosed this in a statement, stating that everything that has been taken away from workers will be restored.

He noted that Congress is committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of workers across the nation, adding that they will strive to foster a culture of inclusivity, understanding, and collaboration while addressing issues that affect the workers and pave the way for positive change in the country.

He further assured workers that the Labour Congress will ensure that it builds workplaces that guarantee the rights and privileges of workers while building the basis for continuous wealth creation for Nigeria, maintaining that actions that will ensure that decent work gaps are reduced to their barest minimum will be encouraged.

Ajaero therefore called on private sector employers and government agencies that are yet to pay their workers to do so, as Congress will not take such an attitude from employers this year.

He noted that the NLC will partner with civil societies, including the Federal Ministry of Labour, the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NEC), and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), among others, to generate frameworks that will build a stronger and more robust civic space, which will, in turn, ensure that the voices of the workers are heard at all times and also assist the government in taking the right actions that will make governance more effective and beneficial for the majority of the citizenry.
