A yet-to-be-identified man has been arrested by the operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command in connection with the murder of a police officer in the state capital on New Year’s Eve, News About Nigeria reports.
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that investigations are ongoing to fish out the hoodlums and their sponsors.
Nguroje, while speaking to newsmen, stated that the late officer, Inspector Richard Felix, was a Mobile Police officer attached to the 43 PMF of the Lagos State Police Command.
He disclosed that the command had gotten a report of the attack and had rushed down to the scene, where the officer was seen with various degrees of injuries around his chest area.
He further disclosed that they had rushed him to the Specialist Hospital in Yola, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
He, however, noted that one of the suspects had been arrested and the case, upon the request of the Commissioner of Police, has been transferred to the State CID for further investigations to ascertain who the attackers were, their sponsors, and the reason for the attack, maintaining that once the investigations are concluded, the culprits will face the full wrath of the law.
Nguroje, however, noted that the reason for the late officer’s presence in Adamawa remained unknown and will be investigated, adding that the Lagos Police Command will be communicated with officially to find out why the officer was in Adamawa.
He added that whether the officer was on casual leave, annual leave, or special assignment, it would be discovered after they spoke with their sister command in Lagos State.
