Akeredolu: CPS, Aide Resign Following Ondo Governor’s Death

Richard Olatunde, the Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has tendered his resignation, citing the untimely death of Governor Akeredolu as the reason for his decision.

Dare Aragbaye, the Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, has also resigned from his position.

News About Nigeria gathered that in their resignation letters addressed to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government on Wednesday, both aides expressed their deep grief over the passing of Governor Akeredolu and explained that their decision to resign was directly linked to this unfortunate event.

Olatunde, in his resignation letter titled ‘Resignation Letter’, said, “My decision to resign from office is hinged on the unfortunate and untimely death of our leader, principal, and father figure, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON.”

He acknowledged the exceptional qualities of Akeredolu, emphasising the late governor’s leadership and dedication to the development of the state.

Aragbaye, in his letter, conveyed that his decision to resign was based on the sad demise of Governor Akeredolu, whom he described as a fearless and honest leader.

He expressed loyalty to Akeredolu even in death and appreciated the opportunity to serve in the administration as a member of the State Executive Council.

Governor Akeredolu passed away in Germany on Wednesday at the age of 67.

The swearing-in of Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the substantive governor of the state took place at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure.

The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, administered the oath of office to Aiyedatiwa, marking the beginning of his gubernatorial tenure.
