Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has urged Christians in the country to carry out all their activities this period with the fear of God as they celebrate the Christmas season, News About Nigeria reports.
Saraki made this call to Christians in a statement released on Sunday from his media office, urging them to keep in mind that Christ is the reason for the season and therefore act accordingly.
He further advised that Christians across Nigeria support their prayers for the country with positive action, stating that the prayers of the faithful have gone a long way in sustaining the country despite the numerous, daunting challenges that are confronting it and threatening the existence of Nigeria as a united, peaceful, and progressive country.
He also enjoined them to emulate Jesus Christ, who is a perfect representative of the positive actions expected of them, which includes preaching compliance with the laws of the land, contributing to growing the wealth of the nation, performing their civic duties honestly and transparently, as well as supporting the poor and helping to prevent any harm that may come to the nation, while also demonstrating the fear of God in all of their activities, adding that these and more are what are expected of them by Jesus Christ.
Saraki also advised that Nigerians live in peace with each other and learn to tolerate one another, maintaining that the strength of the nation lies in the multiplicity of our religion, ethnicity, language, and culture.
He finally urged the citizens of the country to step up and ensure that the country is safe from economic problems.
