Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a yet-to-be-identified man for killing his wife for not preparing his favourite food, News About Nigeria reports.
PUNCH, in an interview with an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, gathered that the husband committed the crime after he came back from work last week and discovered that the wife only prepared noodles rather than his favourite meal.
The unfortunate incident took place in the Olota area of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
It was also discovered that the suspect had abandoned his wife in the house after assaulting her physically and hitting her with a heavy object, which led to her death.
The source, while pleading anonymity for fear of intimidation, stated that their neighbour had drawn the attention of the man to the fact that his wife was seriously convulsing and needed urgent medical attention.
Unfortunately, all efforts by the husband and neighbours of the deceased to save her by rushing her to the hospital were in vain, as she gave up the ghost on the way there.
A police source confirmed that the suspect has been apprehended, but the Lagos State Police Command and the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, have yet to speak on the matter.
According to the police source, the husband of the deceased was apprehended after a report was filed by the brother of the victim.
He noted that the matter has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation.
