A 17-year-old teenager identified as Lawali Mori has been arrested by operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command for raping a cockerel in the state, News About Nigeria reports.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Command, Suleiman Ngoruje, disclosed the arrest of the teenager in a statement on Friday, saying that young Mori had sexually assaulted the male fowl.
The 17-year-old resident of Viniklang, in the Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State, was arrested and placed in police custody after he was caught in an act of bestiality, which the police described as an act against the order of nature.
The state PPRO disclosed that the arrest had been made after a report was made by another resident of Viniklang, Esther Dimas, who caught him in the distasteful and repulsive act.
The suspect confessed to committing the crime during interrogation by the police, stating that he had sexually assaulted the male fowl.
The police further revealed that, when asked, the suspect could not provide any cogent reason as to why he carried out the act.
The state commissioner of police, Afolabi Babatola, expressed his worry over the sad incident, stating that it is indeed a condemnable one and should not be heard among the people, let alone a teenager.
He appealed to parents to teach their children the right thing and always remain vigilant and watch over their children for signs that will show that they are not living right.
He added that when they discover any abnormal behaviour, they should strive to fix it to avoid such despicable occurrences.
He, however, called for a discreet investigation into the matter, stating that due punishment would be meted out accordingly if the suspect is found guilty of the crime.
