Nollywood actor Amaechi Monagor, known as Aguiyi, has been diagnosed with kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke during his recent three-week hospitalisation, News About Nigeria gathered.
The health update was shared by his cousin, Tony, on Facebook.
In a post on Sunday, Tony clarified the situation, shedding light on Monagor’s health challenges.
He revealed that the actor had been managing diabetes for several years, but recent complications, including a stroke, intensified the severity of his condition.
Currently undergoing weekly dialysis and treatments at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Monagor’s medical expenses have surged, prompting his family to seek assistance.
“Amaechi is currently down with kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. He had been managing his diabetes over the years and living his life. He is presently undergoing weekly dialysis and other treatments at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi,” he said.
Tony expressed gratitude for the support received from Monagor’s fans, friends, and well-wishers.
He dispelled misconceptions about their relationship, stating that Amaechi is his first cousin.
Tony shared details about the ongoing treatments, noting some improvements in Monagor’s condition.
He said that the actor’s blood sugar is under control, but sustained funding is required for his complete recovery.
Despite the challenges, Tony conveyed optimism, stating that Amaechi Monagor is deeply loved globally, and various groups have rallied to contribute to his hospital bills.
Monetary assistance from fans and well-meaning individuals is being sought to support the actor’s recovery journey.
Tony concluded, “His full treatments and recovery require sustained funding or donations. No amount is too small.”
