Renowned Nigerian comedian, Helen Paul, has revealed that she was the voice behind the iconic line, ‘Uncle, please tell us a story,’ in Psquare’s hit song ‘Story,’ News About Nigeria reports.

The song, released in 2005, played a significant role in propelling the twin singers to fame in the early 2000s.

Helen Paul shared this revelation in a recent interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, disclosing that she was working as a receptionist at the time.

The comedian explained that she secured the gig when the potential voice-over artists, who usually worked in the studio, failed to show up, leaving the singers disappointed.

She mentioned that, initially, she didn’t know the singers and had never imagined them becoming stars.

Recalling her experience with the Psquare duo, Helen added that they visited the studio to record their songs and needed someone who could provide a voice-over for children.

Despite being a receptionist, she highlighted her proficiency in voice imitation, catching the attention of the studio producer, Ayoafeife, who offered her the job.

According to her, although she did the job successfully, her name was not credited when the song catapulted the singers to stardom. However, she chose not to contest it.

Helen Paul also shared that her distinctive voice opened up numerous opportunities with various companies, significantly boosting her monthly earnings from N9,590 to N400,000.

One notable job she secured after the Psquare campaign was a voice-over for a milk product. This opportunity marked her transition from the receptionist’s desk to independence.
