The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has confirmed the release of the last pupil of Bethel Baptist High School, Treasure Ayubac, who was kidnapped in 2021 by bandits.
The Governor expressed excitement about the release of Treasure, who has been in captivity since 2021.
News About Nigeria gathered that Gunmen had, in the early hours of Monday, July 5, 2021, stormed the school owned by a church in Damishi, Kaduna and abducted 121 students of the school.
Although other students of the school had regained freedom before now, Treasure was said to be the last person who was released from their custody.
In a statement released on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mohammed Shehu, the Kaduna state governor expressed his joy over the development.
He also appreciated all those who have tirelessly and relentlessly made efforts and also prayed to ensure the safe return of Ayuba.
Sani also pledged that his administration would continue to give security agencies all the support they need to ensure that schools in the state were safe and secure.
Also confirming the release of the student, the Nigeria Baptist Convention’s President, Rev Dr Israel Akanji, stated that Ayuba, who was part of the 121 students abducted on July 5, 2021, returned home on the 2nd of November, 2023.
