APC To Obi: Stop Spreading Misinformation, Focus On Constructive Criticism

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, Peter Obi, on Wednesday, tasked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to re-introduce himself to Nigerians with respect to his alleged forged certificates, News About Nigeria reports.

Peter Obi made this call in a press conference in Abuja where he noted that, having followed the prolonged identity crisis and the controversy surrounding the authenticity of the Chicago State University (CSU) credentials of Tinubu, he is distressed as a Nigerian.

In his words: “Tinubu owes the nation and the world a simple debt of obligation that only he can discharge. I call on him to immediately & personally mount the rostrum of his present high office to perform a simple task once and for all time. He should re-introduce himself to the nation he governs and to the world for the avoidance of further doubt. He should let the world know his name, nationality his place of birth, his parentage, the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates as well as the actual universities he attended and certificates obtained. He should indicate clearly where & when he did his National Youth Service.”

Obi also charged the President to let Nigerians and the world know if at any time he has had a change of name, and why he did so, noting that it is a simple task that won’t take his time as it requires no affidavits, prolonged court processes, spokespersons, agents, or surrogates.

“This task is one that only Chief Bola Tinubu himself through a direct personal statement can perform. He must perform this task urgently in order to lay to rest, once and for the last time, the many lingering doubts & valid speculations about his true identity,” he stated.

The former governor of Anambra State also decried the negative impact of Tinubu’s alleged forged certificate on Nigerians, who according to him, are now perceived around the globe as forgers.

According to the LP flag-bearer in the last election, the entire CSU matter and other many lingering identity question marks about Tinubu have further worsened Nigeria’s image in the international scene, “as uninformed outsiders now see every other Nigerian as a potential fraudster, certain forger, or identity thief.”
