The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest and detention of Peace Ekom Robert, a Nigerian woman accused of engaging in serial fraudulent activities.

News About Nigeria gathered that the arrest comes after Robert filed a lawsuit against high-ranking police officials, alleging a breach of her fundamental rights.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, Ms. Robert’s arrest is the result of an ongoing police investigation into her alleged involvement in fraudulent activities that have affected numerous individuals.

The police had repeatedly sought her cooperation during the investigation, but she consistently declined to engage with them, leading to her being declared a person of interest.

Contrary to earlier reports, the police spokesperson clarified that the assertion that the police surrounded and threatened Robert’s life is categorically false.

Adejobi said the arrest was made based on credible intelligence regarding her whereabouts, provided by a concerned member of the public.

Robert had filed a lawsuit against the Acting Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Police Service Commission, three police officers, and one Ifenyinwa Anthonia Olua (Ugo) in the Akwa Ibom State High Court in Uyo.

She sought damages amounting to N520 million for the alleged violation of her fundamental and constitutional rights.

She also alleged that the Commissioner of Police, Admin Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Abuja, CP Ibrahim Baba Zango, had been making attempts on her life, including sending police personnel to kidnap and kill her despite the ongoing court action against him and police authorities.

In response to the situation, Adejobi emphasized that the investigative process would continue with diligence and impartiality and that Robert would be given the opportunity to present her perspective during the course of the investigation.

The police urged members of the public who have been defrauded or have pending cases involving Robert to come forward and cooperate with the police operatives investigating her alleged fraudulent activities..
