President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,

The Military High Command has revealed that there are conspiracies from several sources to incite members of the Nigerian Armed Forces to overthrow Tinubu‘s administration.

The leadership of the Nigerian military pledged support for Tinubu’s administration and declared that their plans to unseat the president will be unsuccessful.

News About Nigeria reports that the Military High Command emphasised that the Nigerian Armed Forces benefit more from democracy and declared that officers would not take part in any actions that would damage it.

This information was revealed in a recent message from the Director of Defence Information, Tukur Gusau, who called the development “unpatriotic and wicked.”

He asserted that the military will continue to carry out its constitutional obligations rather than planning a coup against the current democratic government, stressing that Nigeria’s armed forces would not be diverted.

“The reports calling on the military to interfere in our democracy is highly unpatriotic, wicked, and an attempt to distract the Armed Forces of Nigeria from performing its constitutional responsibilities,” the senior military said.

“The Defence headquarters frowns at a report being circulated online about welfare issues in the Armed Forces of Nigeria. We wish to state unequivocally that the military is happy and better under democracy and will not get involved in any act to sabotage the hard-earned democracy in our country.”

The Nigeria Army’s revelation comes amid fears of a possible coup given the current situation in neighbouring nation Niger. Recall that ECOWAS on Thursday ordered its standby troops to Niger following the refusal of the Niger military junta to return the country to democratic rule
