Former three-time super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch has made bold claims that he could beat Oleksandr Usyk in a street fight, News About Nigeria reports.

While Froch acknowledges that Usyk would likely overpower him in a boxing ring, he feels more confident in a no-holds-barred encounter outside of the ring.

However, the British boxing legend is quick to admit that facing someone like Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua in a street fight would be an entirely different story due to their immense size and strength.

Despite retiring from professional boxing, Froch maintains close ties to the sport as a prominent boxing pundit.

As he encounters current heavyweight champions and contenders, his fighter’s instinct prompts him to assess potential opponents, even in the heavyweight division.

While speaking on the talkSPORT’s talkBOXING show, Froch discussed the physical attributes of Oleksandr Usyk, who stands at around 6 feet 2 inches or 6 feet 3 inches.

He humorously remarked, “I look at him and I think, ‘Yeah, I fancy my chances.’ Not in a boxing ring, in a street fight.”

However, Froch is well aware of his limits, acknowledging that fighters like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua present insurmountable challenges due to their imposing size and strength.

Reflecting on Joshua’s rematch with Usyk, Froch expressed frustration at the missed opportunity to exploit Joshua’s physical advantages in the ring.

As a former champion and seasoned observer of the sport, Froch’s insight into the boxing game brings a unique perspective to the sport’s spectators.

While his hypothetical musings about street fights may be laughable, his admiration for elite heavyweights like Fury and Joshua remains evident.
