President Bola Tinubu returns to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital after the African Union (AU) summit that was held in Nairobi, Kenya, News About Nigeria reports.

Tinubu who attended the meeting as the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) spoke on the need to bolster the ECOWAS Standby Force to counter coups and fight terrorism in the sub-region.

Upon his return to Abuja, President Tinubu received a warm welcome from several prominent figures, including Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Hope Uzodinnma, the Governor of Imo State, and former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, among others.

Tinubu’s homecoming coincides with controversies surrounding his political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) today announced the resignations of Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman, and Iyiola Omisore, the National Secretary.

These resignations occurred prior to Tinubu’s trip to Kenya.

Abubakar Kyari is now the acting chairman of the party while Festus Fuanter has assumed the role of the national publicity secretary.

Tinubu is expected to wade into the crisis rocking the party.

Meanwhile, the president has less than 11 days to submit his ministerial list to the National Assembly for confirmation.

By law, Tinubu ought to name his cabinet approximately sixty days after swearing in.

He has already sent the list of ministerial Nominees to the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for screening.

Expectations are high to see those that will make the president’s cabinet.
