Governor Ademola Adeleke has responded strongly to the accusations made by the Muslim Rights Organisation (MURIC), which claimed that the governor deliberately appointed only seven Muslims as Commissioners in Osun State, News About Nigeria reports.

The Chairman of MURIC, Ishaq Akintola, further alleged that Adeleke was marginalizing Muslims and acting as a secret agent for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

However, Adeleke, through his spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed, released a statement on Tuesday denouncing MURIC’s attempts to create religious discord in the state.

According to the statement, the governor’s appointments were based on merit and competence, not religious affiliations.

Since assuming office, Governor Adeleke has been committed to good governance and rectifying the mistakes of previous administrations.

His appointments have been made with a focus on merit, competency, and alignment with his leadership style.

This approach was also applied to the selection of permanent secretaries, who play crucial roles as accounting officers in various ministries.

The principle of equity, fairness, and competency has guided the governor’s decisions, leading to significant achievements in a short period.

Despite being in office for only eight months, Governor Adeleke has actively sought out the best individuals among the state’s residents to assist in overcoming the challenges of underdevelopment, infrastructure deficiencies, and poverty.

This commitment to excellence has garnered immense appreciation from the people of Osun, both within the state and abroad.

It is essential to recognize that no destabilizing agent, posing as a religious body, can manipulate religion as a partisan tool to divide and distract a government that is focused on rectifying past mistakes.
