Suspected Herdsmen Claim Farmer’s Life in Nasarawa, Community Calls for Swift Justice, News About Nigeria reports.

Tragedy struck the peaceful Rakpami community in Nasarawa State’s Toto Local Government Area when a farmer, identified as Solomon Yusuf, was brutally killed during a wedding ceremony.

The assailants, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, stormed the area, leaving the locals in a state of shock and grief.

The Gbagyi Cultural Renaissance Foundation promptly addressed the incident, condemning the recurring acts of violence perpetrated by these herdsmen.

In a press statement, Musa Emmanuel-Dnasuwa, the foundation’s Secretary, expressed concerns over the unrelenting attacks, destruction of crops, and unwarranted threats posed by the herdsmen.

The foundation emphasized that the safety and well-being of Toto LGA’s residents were at stake.

Emmanuel-Dnasuwa acknowledged the timely intervention of HRH Musa Abu-Shekwo, the Osu Yelwa, who managed to defuse tensions and dissuade the aggrieved youths from taking matters into their own hands.

In light of the escalating security concerns, the foundation appealed to Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi-Tashas, the Executive Chairman of Toto LGA, and Governor Abdullahi Sule to collaborate closely with security agencies to prevent further deterioration of the situation.

“We cannot tolerate these recurring atrocities any longer. Despite our peaceful and mature approach, the herdsmen continue to exploit our patience and peaceful nature.

We implore the government to take urgent action to address this issue before it spirals out of control.

As a peace-loving people, we strive to preserve our reputation,” emphasized the statement.

Meanwhile, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed that the police had not yet received official information regarding the incident.
