Taraba State Governor, Dr. Kefas Agbu, has announced a significant development in the education sector in response to the immense challenges brought about by the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal government.

News About Nigeria reports that in a commendable move, he has declared primary and secondary school education to be free and compulsory throughout the state, starting from the next academic session.

This announcement comes as part of Governor Agbu’s ongoing efforts to address the deplorable state of education in Taraba State, which he had previously declared a State of Emergency.

Acknowledging the financial difficulties faced by the people of Taraba State and the nation as a whole, Governor Agbu expressed his commitment to improving the lives of the citizens.

Recognizing the substandard conditions of many schools in the state, he emphasized his determination to restore them to a desirable state.

In order to alleviate the burden on parents and ensure equal access to education, he declared that there will be no more payment of school fees for primary and secondary schools across the state, effective from the upcoming academic year.

Governor Agbu also outlined his plans to bridge the technological gap experienced by students and pupils in Taraba State.

To accomplish this, he intends to introduce internet services in schools, enabling students to have access to digital resources and cutting-edge learning tools.

By implementing this initiative, Governor Agbu aims to ensure that the children of Taraba State receive a standard and high-quality education, comparable to their counterparts anywhere in the world.

It is worth noting that Governor Agbu has already taken steps to make education more affordable in Taraba State.

He recently reduced the school fees of the state-owned university by 50%, aiming to ease the financial burden on parents and increase accessibility to higher education.
