The Brickhall School, a school located in Abuja, has announced its decision to shut down the school and stop school activities for one week over the death of a four-year-old pupil, Miguel Ovoke, who died in the school, News About Nigeria reports.

According to the school, the decision is to enable them to properly mourn the deceased pupil who died on April 28, 2024.

The school management disclosed that Miguel choked on a piece of meat offal from his meal brought from home.

The school further noted that despite the immediate response of the school’s certified nurse and the hospital where he was rushed, Miguel didn’t survive.

In a statement released by the school management, they charged everyone connected to the tragedy to respect Miguel’s memory with dignity and peace and to allow medical professionals and law enforcement agencies to conclude with the autopsy.

The statement partly reads, “It is with profound sorrow and deepest sympathy that we at Brickhall School, Management, and the Parents Teacher’s Forum express our heartfelt condolences to the family of our dearly beloved pupil, Miguel Ovoke.
