Osimhen Snubs PSG, Eyes Premier League Move

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly eager to make a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal emerging as potential suitors.

According to sources, Osimhen is willing to reject a move to Paris Saint-Germain, opting instead to wait for a Premier League club to make an approach.

News About Nigeria reports that Chelsea has already made contact with Napoli to explore the possibility of a deal, which could involve a cash-plus-player exchange, with Romelu Lukaku and a younger player potentially heading to Naples.

Napoli has expressed interest in signing Lukaku this summer, and negotiations are ongoing.

Osimhen’s reluctance to join PSG stems from his previous experience playing in France for Lille.

Osimhen has a strong affinity for England, regularly visiting the country to spend time with friends.

His impressive goal-scoring record in Serie A, where he has won numerous awards, including the Serie A Best Young Player and Best Striker awards, has made him an attractive prospect for Premier League clubs.

The 24-year-old began his senior career in Germany with VfL Wolfsburg before moving to Charleroi on loan and later to Lille, where he scored 18 goals in his first and only season there.

In 2020, he joined Napoli for a club-record fee of €70 million and has since become the highest-scoring African player in Serie A history.

Osimhen’s achievements extend beyond club football. He won the Golden Boot award at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup and has represented Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, reaching the final in 2023.

He is currently the joint-third all-time highest goalscorer for the Nigeria national team.

In recognition of his achievements, Osimhen was made a Member of the Federal Republic by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023.

He finished eighth in the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony, becoming the first Nigerian to make the top ten, and was named African Footballer of the Year at the 2023 CAF Awards.
