Three individuals lost their lives, and another person sustained injuries in a tragic accident that occurred on Friday along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, News About Nigeria reports.
The accident took place between a Toyota Sienna vehicle with the registration number BDG 426 HT and a DAF truck marked RNG 558 XC. The Sienna driver collided with the DAF truck as it was exiting the trailer park.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson of the Ogun command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the accident to journalists in Abeokuta.
The incident happened in the vicinity of the Total petrol station situated on the expressway. Among the individuals involved in the accident were seven people, comprising four adult males, two adult females, and one child.
Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speeding by the Sienna driver. She further stated that the injured victim was promptly taken to the Isaara General Hospital for medical attention, while the deceased individuals were transported to the FOS morgue in Ipara.
Operatives are currently present at the scene, managing the traffic situation. The Sector Commander has cautioned motorists against driving at excessive speeds and advised them to adhere to reasonable speed limits, employing common sense while driving, Okpe said.
