Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has firmly denied the widespread rumors circulating on social media regarding his alleged plan to overturn the death sentence of Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin, News About Nigeria reports.

Adedoyin was convicted in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke, a graduate student from Obafemi Awolowo University.

The unfortunate incident occurred in November 2021 at Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife.

The Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Adepele Ojo, recently concluded the trial and found Adedoyin and two hotel staff members guilty of murder.

Justice Ojo, after careful consideration of the circumstantial evidence, concluded that Adegoke was indeed murdered during his stay at Adedoyin’s hotel.

In response to the allegations of a potential pardon, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, issued a press release categorically denying any such plans.

Rasheed emphasized that Governor Adeleke’s administration has never intervened and will never interfere in the judicial process.

He labeled the individuals spreading the false news as public enemies, accusing them of attempting to blackmail the state governor.

According to the press release, Governor Adeleke expressed his commitment to ensuring that the culprits involved in the heinous crime face the full force of the law.

He stated that there is no hidden agenda on his part concerning this murder case, apart from his dedication to pursuing justice in the public’s interest.

He firmly asserted that no member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is representing any of the convicted individuals as their counsel.

He emphasized the importance of the state judiciary’s independence in handling and adjudicating cases.

The governor vehemently denied any personal association or partnership with the owner of Oduduwa University, where Adedoyin serves as the proprietor.

He firmly stated that he had neither interfered nor intervened in the proceedings or sentencing of the accused individuals.

Governor Adeleke urged the public to disregard the repeated rumors of a potential state pardon for the convicted individual.
