Lagos State Government Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated a Law graduate for breaking a 40-year-old academic record, News About Nigeria reports.

Yusuf Aminat, a law student at Lagos State University (LASU), has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the best-graduating student in the institution’s 40-year history, with a perfect cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State took to his Facebook page to congratulate Aminat and express his admiration for her hard work, dedication, and excellence.

He emphasized that in Lagos, these values are highly regarded and celebrated.

The governor also acknowledged the exceptional academic achievements of 282 students who attained first-class honors in the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 sessions, stating that the state will continue to reward and support academic excellence.

Ahead of the forthcoming 26th graduation event at Lagos State University (LASU) in Ojo, it has been declared that Aminat Yusuf has achieved the esteemed recognition of being the top-performing student, having attained a remarkable CGPA of 5.0.

As a token of recognition, the university will award Ms. Yusuf a cash prize of N500,000.

During a pre-convocation press briefing, Vice Chancellor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello revealed the details of the ceremony, which will honor the graduates of the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions. Out of the 10,183 students set to graduate, 282 of them have achieved First Class distinctions in various fields of study.

While Aminat Yusuf’s academic excellence makes her the top first-class graduate for the 2021/2022 academic session, Feyisayo Lopez from the Department of Physiology in the College of Medicine has claimed the best graduate title for the 2020/2021 session, boasting an impressive CGPA of 4.91.
