Popular Nigerian artiste, Iyanya Mbuk, best known as Iyanya has declared that indeed, he is at the same level and start-fame as the likes of Olamide, Wizkid, and Davido.

According to him, he also deserved to be recognized as the ‘old cats’ of the music industry, when mentioning the heavyweights, News About Nigeria reports.

Taking to the microblogging platform, Twitter, the ‘Your Waist’ crooner responded to a fan who tweeted;

“When we mention the Old cats like Olamide, Davido and Wizkid, Iyanya should be mentioned too.

“He dropped two hit songs in 2011. Kukere and Your waist” and he has been consistent since then.”

Agreeing with the post, Iyanyan simply wrote; Well.”

Speaking further, he also told a second fan of his with similar sentiment, that his songs got global acceptance at a time when the internet wasn’t popular.

The fan wrote; “Shout out to @Iyanya he really took Afrobeats to the world. Kukere was a huge song globally! As big as skelewu, (pls correct me gently if I’m wrong) but the impact cannot be erased by even banter.”

Iyanya replied; “They don’t know. Zero internet penetration and our songs were everywhere. They can o my tweet according to the information they have. Let’s count Hits for Hits and tell me how many go fit match”.

This comes after the singer shared details about his team’s ambitious endeavor to collaborate with American-Trinidadian singer Nicki Minaj.

The singer revealed that during the peak of his career between 2012 and 2014, he and Triple MG Boss Ubi Franklin sought to feature the international star following the massive success of his hit song “Kukere.”

According to Iyanya, after the success of “Kukere,” he and his music producer, D’Tunez, decided to modify the beat and create another song titled “Your Waist,” which also gained significant airplay.

As they aimed to take their music international, Iyanya and Ubi Franklin set their sights on securing a feature with Nicki Minaj for the remix of their track.

To pursue this collaboration, the team reached out to various individuals and managed to establish a connection with the renowned “Super Bass” crooner.

Iyanya recounted that they flew to Atlanta to arrange a meeting with Nicki, only to be informed that it would require a fee of $200,000 to have her feature on a track.

Despite their efforts to raise the necessary funds through financial assistance, they could only gather $70,000, which fell short of Nicki’s management’s requirements.

Iyanya further explained that the expenses incurred during their pursuit, including transportation and miscellaneous costs, amounted to $23,000, equivalent to approximately 4 million Naira in 2013.

Regrettably, the team’s efforts did not come to fruition, and they returned to Nigeria empty-handed after an unsuccessful encounter.
