President Bola Tinubu is currently hosting members of the Nigerian Governors Forum at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.
News About Nigeria understands that the meeting includes newly elected governors from various states, as well as those who were reelected.
While Tinubu previously met with governors from his party last Friday, Wednesday’s meeting marks the first time he has met with governors from all political parties.
The meeting, which began at 12:36 pm, saw the presence of all governors, except those from Kaduna, Katsina, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ekiti, Sokoto, Ondo, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, and Katsina states.
However, the governors of Edo and Niger states are being represented by their deputies.
Vice President Kashim Shettima is also attending the meeting.
The gathering commenced shortly after Tinubu swore in Senator George Akume as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The swearing-in ceremony took place briefly at the council chamber of the Presidential Villa on Wednesday.
Akume took his Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office in the presence of government officials.
In attendance at the swearing-in were Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. FolasadeYemi-Esan, and Mrs. Regina Akume, spouse of the new SGF.
Akume has since assumed his new role as SGF, while Tinubu is currently meeting with governors from all 36 states under the Nigerian Governors Forum platform.
