Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has granted approval for the employment of 1,480 new workers to address the staffing gap created by the previous administration’s employment embargo, initiated by Mohammad Abubakar.
Abubakar had imposed the employment freeze to verify the authenticity of existing workers, as he believed that the state’s resources were being excessively consumed by the workforce. Governor Mohammed continued the embargo for four years, diligently scrutinizing the payroll to identify and remove ghost workers.
After his second inauguration, Governor Mohammed fulfilled his promise made on May 29, 2023, during his swearing-in ceremony, by announcing the lifting of the employment ban.
The Head of Service, Adamu Yahuza, shared this information with the media yesterday, News About Nigeria reports.
He stated that 1,000 of the new employees would be appointed as teachers of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Information Communications and Technology (ICT). Additionally, 206 workers would serve as agricultural extension workers and farm managers.
Furthermore, 154 individuals would be assigned to the College of Education in Azare, while 120 employees would join the Sharia Court of Appeal.
