Olori Tobi Phillips, one of the esteemed wives of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has finally responded to critics who have been trolling her for not speaking Yoruba in her videos.
News About Nigeria gathered that in a bid to silence her detractors, the former beauty queen took to her Instagram page to share a video of herself fluently speaking Yoruba during an interview with BBC Yoruba.
The Queen explained in her caption that although Yoruba may not be her default language, whenever she does speak it, she ensures that she does so with the correct tone.
This response came after she faced severe criticism on social media for not using Yoruba in her videos.
“Good morning fam, I hope your day is off to a great start. This is for those who have been trying to troll me about speaking Yoruba in my previous videos.
I may not speak Yoruba as my default language, but best believe that whenever I do, I make sure to speak it with the right tone.” She wrote.
Not long ago, Queen Tobi hinted at the pressures she was facing following reports of a new wife, Queen Opeoluwa Elizabeth Akinmuda, joining the palace.
Queen Opeoluwa is set to be traditionally ushered into the ancient Ife Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife, Osun state, on Thursday, followed by a thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday.
After a month-long break from social media, Queen Tobi made a bold return to Instagram, asserting that she is back stronger than ever before.
Expressing gratitude to those who checked up on her during her absence, she assured her followers that she is back and better.
