Arsenal is set to release 10 of their players to fund their summer spending, News About Nigeria understands.
Arsenal is preparing to make significant changes to their squad in order to bolster their team for the upcoming season. Manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly eager to spend over £200 million to strengthen the team following their disappointing performance in the Premier League title race this season.
Arteta has been granted permission to pursue key targets, including Declan Rice from West Ham and Moises Caicedo from Brighton. In order to acquire these players, the Arsenal manager is expected to generate £100 million from the sale of 10 players who have struggled to secure regular playing time at the club.
According to reports, Arteta is open to permanent deals for several players who have spent the season on loan, namely Nicolas Pepe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Folarin Balogun, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Cedric Soares, and Nuno Tavares.
The future of other players at the club remains uncertain. Granit Xhaka has been linked with a return to the Bundesliga, while Emile Smith Rowe’s season has been plagued by injuries. Additionally, the club is considering offers for Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney, with Newcastle expressing interest.
Arteta is determined to address defensive gaps by seeking cover for full-back and centre-half positions. He is also looking to add a winger to provide competition for Bukayo Saka and possibly a striker who can serve as a target man.
Arsenal’s hopes of winning the English Premier League title were dashed after a home defeat to Brighton last Sunday. Despite a strong start to the season and dominating the table for a significant period, the team’s efforts have been in vain, as Manchester City only need to win one of their remaining three fixtures to secure the title.
