Three individuals from Ezza South Local Government Area tragically lost their lives on Tuesday when the motorcycle they were riding collided with the convoy of Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State.
News About Nigeria reports that the incident occurred on the international airport road as the governor’s advance team was returning from dropping him off at Onueke airport.
The collision took place shortly after the inauguration of a flyover in Abaomege, located in Onicha local government area.
This flyover, which was named after Prince Arthur Eze, had been commissioned by both Prince Arthur Eze and Governor Umahi.
After the ceremony, Governor Umahi departed for Abuja, leaving behind a devastating accident scene.
Prince Arthur Eze, along with Deputy Governor Eric Kelechi Igwe, happened to be present at the scene of the accident.
They took a moment to express their deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and immediately arranged for the injured individuals to be transported to the hospital. Following this, they left for Enugu State.
The motorcycle involved in the collision, as well as the Sienna vehicle from the governor’s convoy, sustained irreparable damage.
Unfortunately, the names of the victims and the registration number of the ill-fated vehicle are yet to be ascertained.
This tragic incident has cast a shadow over what was supposed to be a day of celebration and progress with the inauguration of the flyover.
The loss of lives has left the community in mourning, and the families of the victims are undoubtedly experiencing immeasurable grief.
