Dr. Mahmuda Isah has been inaugurated for his second and final term as the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), News About Nigeria reports.
The announcement was made by Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, through a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
The official swearing-in ceremony took place during the Commission’s weekly meeting, with distinguished attendees such as INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, National Commissioners, and the Commission’s Secretary.
It was an occasion to underscore the significance of loyalty to the Nigerian people and the crucial need to adhere to the provisions of the law.
Dr. Mahmuda Isah, with his expertise in Petroleum Law, assumed the position of Resident Electoral Commissioner in January 2018, serving effectively in both Jigawa and Kaduna States until the completion of his first term in January 2023.
Now, for his second term, Dr. Isah has been redeployed to the Federal Capital Territory, signifying a new chapter in his career.
His oath of office was administered during the Commission’s weekly meeting, which was attended by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, National Commissioners, and the Commission’s Secretary.
During the event, Prof. Yakubu emphasized the importance of remaining faithful to the Nigerian people and upholding the principles laid out in the law.
The message was clear: the role of the Resident Electoral Commissioner is not only one of responsibility but also one of utmost integrity.
Dr. Isah, who holds a doctorate degree in Petroleum Law, has demonstrated his competence and dedication throughout his previous tenure in Jigawa and Kaduna States.
With his wealth of knowledge and experience, he contributed significantly to the successful execution of electoral processes in these regions.
As he embarks on his second and final term, Dr. Isah’s redeployment to the Federal Capital Territory brings fresh opportunities and challenges.
The Federal Capital Territory, being the seat of power and a densely populated area, requires a vigilant and capable Resident Electoral Commissioner to ensure the smooth conduct of electoral activities.
