Ahead of Saturday, November 16 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the Nigerian Air Force has transported the sensitive materials needed for the election, News About Nigeria reports.
The materials were received by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The development was disclosed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a post on its official X account on Monday.
The post partly reads, “Breaking News! Sensitive materials for the Ondo State governorship election, scheduled for Saturday, 16th November 2024, have arrived in Akure, the state capital, and have been received by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria. The materials were conveyed to Akure by the Nigerian Air Force.”
According to INEC, the early arrival of the sensitive materials is to ensure a smooth and hitch-free election on Saturday.
The electoral body further noted that it has put measures in place to ensure that all the polling units in the 18 Local Government areas in Ondo have the necessary election materials early on the day of voting.
INEC further tasked the people of the state to cooperate with them and security agencies during the exercise.
Meanwhile, INEC also revealed that a total of 64,273 Permanent voter cards (PVCs) have been collected by voters in the state out of the 89,777 cards delivered to Ondo State.
According to the election body, the figure represents an impressive collection rate of 72 percent, noting that the collection which is the highest going by previous elections, shows the readiness of the Ondo people for the election.
