30 Man Flying Eagles Team Arrives Argentina Ahead Of World Cup

A 30-man Flying Eagles team on Sunday night, landed in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital, ahead of the May 20 men’s Under-20 FIFA World Cup, News About Nigeria gathered.

The early arrival is hinged on a series of scheduled friendly match involvements by the boys, in preparation for the competition.

The 30-man list is made up of 20 players and 10 officials, including AC Milan midfielder, Victor Eletu who linked up with the boys on their arrival in Buenos Aires.

Nigeria is drawn in Group D of the competition with four-time winners Brazil, Italy and first-timers Dominican Republic.

Ladan Bosso boy’s first two games will hold in Mendoza, the western part of Argentina, against the Dominican Republic on May 21 and against Italy on May 24, before they fly to La Plata to play Brazil on May 27.

The Flying Eagles are among the few African countries who have been frequent in the tournament and have made it to the final of the competition twice in the past.

Aside from Nigeria, there are three other African countries in the competition; Senegal, The Gambia, and Tunisia.

Senegal, the African Cup of Nations winners were drawn in Group C, where they will trade tackles with Japan, Israel, and Colombia in the group phase.

Tunisia in group E will face Uruguay, Iraq, and England, while Gambia will hope to survive in group F, when they face France, South Korea and Honduras.

Meanwhile, the host Argentina is stuck in group A with Uzbekistan, Guatemala and New Zealand. Hopefully an easy group for the host country.

The competition will span across 23 days, (May 20 – June 11).
