President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has congratulated Bola Tinubu on his election as Nigeria’s President-elect.
The Ukrainian leader extended an invitation to Tinubu to visit Ukraine on a State Visit as soon as he settles down in office after his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
In his congratulatory letter obtained by News About Nigeria, Zelensky commended Tinubu’s victory and expressed his country’s determination to further strengthen cooperation with Nigeria.
Despite facing difficult times caused by Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of global food security and praised Ukraine’s role as a reliable guarantor at the global level.
Zelenskyy also expressed his appreciation for Nigeria’s support of the Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization “Principles of the UN Charter underlying a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in Ukraine.”
He counted on Nigeria’s active participation in the practical implementation of this resolution.
Moreover, Zelenskyy highlighted the Ukrainian initiative “Grain from Ukraine” which aims to significantly increase the supply of grain to African countries in order to prevent famine.
He believes that this initiative will facilitate the fulfillment of the important task of providing global food security.
The invitation from President Zelenskyy to the President-elect of Nigeria is seen as a positive step towards promoting international cooperation and building strong relationships between nations.
Tinubu’s election victory has generated widespread interest and attention across the globe, and his leadership is expected to bring solutions to the present challenges in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country and one of its largest economies.
