Tinubu Approves Landmark Health Sector Reforms

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has called on the police authorities to investigate the Adamawa State governorship supplementary election which took place last weekend.

The Adamawa State governorship supplementary election was conducted last Saturday, April 15, 2023, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the initial election inconclusive due to irregularities in some polling units.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday declared PDP’s Ahmadu Fintiri winner of the governorship poll in Adamawa.

His victory is coming shortly after a Resident Electoral Commission chairman, Yunusa Ari suddenly declared APC’s Aishatu Dahiru Binani winner midway into the result collation.

In a statement obtained by News About Nigeria, Tinubu congratulated Governor Umaru Fintiri on his re-election.

Tinubu also congratulated the winners of the Supplementary Governorship elections held in Kebbi and Adamawa States, as well as those elected into the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly during the last round of elections in states where such took place.

He urged the elected officials to rededicate themselves to the service of their respective constituents, stating that they have earned the trust of their people.

Tinubu noted that the supplementary election was largely peaceful, which is a testimony that Nigerian citizens have accepted democratic norms and have unalloyed faith in the electoral process.

However, he expressed concern about the controversy surrounding the Adamawa Supplementary Governorship Election and urged the police authorities to fully investigate all that transpired during the election.

The President-elect emphasized that in every democratic contest, there has to be one winner, and he called on those aggrieved to pursue legitimate means of addressing their grievances.
