Governor Yahaya Bello Vows to Clamp Down on Perpetrators of Recent Attacks in the State

Yahaya Bello: EFCC Withdraws Appeal Against Order Restraining Arrest Of Ex-Kogi Governor

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has vowed that perpetrators of recent killings in Oganenigu Ward of Dekina Local Government Area of the state would be apprehended and face justice.

This is according to a statement issued on Wednesday morning by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Promise Emmanuel.

It stated that the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Edward Onoja represented the Governor on an on-the-spot assessment of the affected community while assuring that efforts had been activated to ensure the military, police, and other relevant security agencies were immediately mobilized to the affected areas to restore normalcy and fully contain the violence.

Governor Bello reassured of his administration’s commitment to hunting down those who profit from crimes whilst ensuring the security of lives and properties.

While commiserating with families of the deceased, he urged people not to take laws into their hands as the government was making concerted efforts to rehabilitate victims of the attacks and warned that attempts by criminals to plunge the state into the pre-2015 era of insecurity would be strongly resisted.

Others who accompanied the Deputy Governor included State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Sunday Faleke, Commissioner for Information, Hon Kingsley Fanwo and State Security Adviser, Navy Comr Jerry Omodara (retd.), State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Yusuf, State Commandant, NSCDC, Ahmed Gandi, Brigade Commander, Brigadier General N.J Edet and officials of the State Emergency Management Agency.

Subsequently, an expanded meeting was held at the Ata Igala’s Palace in Idah with heads of security, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN, Kogi and Nasarawa Chapters), Chairmen of Olamaboro, Igalamela, Idah, and Dekina LGAs, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders in attendance.The Atta was represented by the Ejeh Ibaji, Chief John Egwemi.
