The man who was identified as Mr. Sola Oguntuase was sentenced to life imprisonment on June 14th, 2022 by the Ado- Ekiti High Court for defiling a 14-year-old Jss 3 student.
News About Nigeria gathered that the culprit was apprehended and tried before Justice Adekunle Adeyeye on one count charge of defilement on Tuesday.
The Investigations carried out by News About Nigeria show that Sola defiled the minor on July 7th, 2020 in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria.
The counsel of the prosecutor identified as Mr. Marcus Olowoyo proved the case before the court by presenting the victim’s statement that was gotten from the police, which served as a form of evidence.
Olowoyo further went ahead and summoned four witnesses with a medical report gotten from an undisclosed hospital. He decided to take the required measure which eventually proved the case of rape to the Ado-Ekiti High Court.
Although, the counsel of the defendants, Mr. Rotimi Adabembe was said to have presented no witnesses before the court to prove the innocence of the accused which led to the judgment from the court.
“I have no doubt that the prosecution demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant raped the victim based on the complete facts. The defendant is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment” the judge passed the final verdict.
More so, Justice Adeyeye, who delivered the ruling, stated that the prosecution proved its case against the defendant beyond all reasonable doubts.
