At least six individuals have tragically lost their lives, while 15 others have sustained varying degrees of injuries in a devastating accident that occurred in Sekona, located on the Ogbomoso-Odo-Oba road within the Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State.

News About Nigeria reports that the incident took place on Sunday evening and involved a collision between a commercial bus and a trailer.

Furthermore, on Monday morning, an Okada rider tragically lost his life after colliding with a stationary vehicle in Gbede, which is in close proximity to Ote on the Ogbomoso-Ilorin road within the Surulere Local Government Area of the state.

Eyewitnesses shared that all the victims were adult males, and their lifeless bodies have been transported to the mortuary at Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital.

The injured individuals have been taken to Bowen University Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso for necessary medical treatment.

Based on investigations, it has been determined that the commercial bus, carrying 21 passengers, and the trailer were both heading north before the collision occurred.

Seun Fakorede, one of the witnesses, provided an account of the accident, stating that it took place on Sunday evening.

According to Fakorede, the driver of the bus attempted to overtake the trailer at a sharp corner but lost control, resulting in a collision.

The bus subsequently veered off the road and somersaulted approximately five times. Tragically, five people lost their lives instantly, while the remaining victims were promptly transported to the hospital by road safety officials.

Isaac Adebayo, the Ogbomoso Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed both incidents on Monday.

He stated that the first accident occurred on Sunday evening at approximately 17:00 hours, leading to the immediate loss of five lives.

Adebayo further added that one additional person tragically passed away at the hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities to six.

He also reported another incident that took place that morning on the Ilorin road, where an Okada rider collided with a trailer near Gbede, close to Ote.

Regrettably, the Okada rider also lost his life in the accident. Adebayo shared this information based on the latest updates he had received.
