Nigeria’s representative at the 2024 Miss Universe contest, Chidimma Adetshina has emerged as the 1st runner-up in the competition, News About Nigeria reports.
The beauty queen clinched the second position in the contest held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
Chidimma was also declared the winner of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.
Reacting to her historic win, Chidimma noted that she is proud of herself for the feat, noting that she made history.
“I’m so proud of myself and I just made history,” she said.
The Beauty queen also took to social media to appreciate Nigerians, noting that they are the reason why she is where she is today.
She further recalled how Nigerians stood by her when she was at her lowest following the rejection she suffered while in the Miss South Africa contest.
She wrote, “To Nigeria: THANK YOU is not enough for all the support you’ve shown. You picked me up when I was at my lowest. I’ve never opened up much but I was ready to give up on my life but you became my strength. On days I never wanted to fight you gave me the strength to fight. I’m so grateful for each and everyone for walking this journey with me. This journey has taught me the power of Unity. I want us to live in a society where we can all accept and celebrate one another.”
Chidimma’s win has left social media platforms buzzing as Nigerians are celebrating her outstanding performance at the contest.
On the other hand, South Africans are excited that Chidimma didn’t make it to the number one position, alleging that Nigerians couldn’t pay their way to get her to win.
