The English Premier League has released the names of the top six nominees for the ‘Manager of The Year’ award, News About Nigeria reports.
The list was announced on the Premier League official Twitter handle on Thursday and contains names of familiar managers like Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion.
Others are Eddie Howe of Newcastle, Unai Emery of Aston Villa and Marco Silva of Fulham.
“Who gets your vote for @BarclaysFooty Manager of the Season?
Mikel Arteta
Roberto De Zerbi
Unai Emery
Pep Guardiola
Eddie Howe
Marco Silva,” EPL tweeted.
Recall that Arteta and Guardiola are the top contenders for the Premier League, with the later, currently topping the table with four points ahead of Arteta’s Arsenal, who sit in second position.
While the league remains open for now, conclusions would have been reached by weekend, when Manchester City will play host to Chelsea, and Arsenal slug it out with Nottingham Forest to keep the faith.
However, such faith will be dashed if City walk away with all three points against the Blues, which is looking most likely, following their inhumane win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
City drove past Madrid at the Etihad Stadium to qualify for their second UEFA champions league final in three years, after losing to Chelsea in 2021.
If Guardiola succeeds this time, it will be the first Champions League title for City and the first in 12 years for Guardiola. He last won the cup with Barcelona in the 2010/11 season.
