Bandits in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have released 74 of the 85 villagers they kidnapped, News About Nigeria reports.

The villagers were kidnapped from Wanzamai and were held captive by the bandits for an undisclosed amount of ransom.

While the release of the 74 villagers is a relief, the fate of the remaining 11 villagers is still unknown. The bandits did not provide any information on the whereabouts or status of the remaining hostages. The state government and the police command have yet to issue any official statements on the matter.

Usman Mohammed, a resident of Wanzamai, confirmed the release of the 74 villagers but expressed concern for the safety of the remaining hostages. He also revealed that some of the released victims were receiving treatment at local hospitals, while others had returned to their homes.

Kidnapping and banditry have become a growing menace in Zamfara State and other parts of Nigeria. The government has promised to take action to tackle the problem, but the situation appears to be getting worse.

The release of the 74 villagers is a positive development and shows that concerted efforts can yield results. However, more needs to be done to ensure the safety of all citizens and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

While the release of the 74 kidnapped villagers is a relief, the fate of the remaining 11 is still unknown. The government and security agencies are working together to secure the release of the remaining hostages and put an end to the menace of banditry and kidnapping in the state.
