Gunmen Abduct 25 Church Members In Ondo

Unknown Gunmen have reportedly abducted 25 choir members of the Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Oke Igan, Akure, Ondo State.

News About Nigeria gathered that the church members were abducted around 3 p.m. on Friday while traveling to Ifon in Ose council area of the state for a burial ceremony.

According to a church member, who spoke with newsmen, the victims were going for the burial ceremony of a church member when the kidnappers struck.

The church member also noted that the vehicle conveying the victims was abandoned on the highway.

Speaking on the abduction, the spokesperson for the state police command, Funmi Odunlami confirmed the incident, noting that the Police were informed of the abandoned CAC bus around Elegbeka area of the state

In her words: “The police were informed that a church Bus with the Inscription CAC was abandoned around the Elegbeka area and there are suspicions that the passengers in the vehicle were kidnapped.”

The Police spokesperson also revealed that the Police and other tactical teams have swung into operation to rescue the victims and in turn arrest the perpetrators.

She said the police anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams have been deployed to the area to rescue the victims and arrest all involved in the crime.

News About Nigeria also gathered that the Owo/Ifon/Benin Expressway has become a dangerous corridor as several cases of kidnappings and armed robbery have happened in the area in recent times.
