Former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, was discovered lifeless in a hotel room in Abuja on Monday.
Initial reports circulating online claimed he had been kidnapped, but police investigations have debunked those claims.
Parrandang had checked into Joy House Hotel in the Durumi area, driving his black Mercedes Benz.
He booked a room for ₦22,000 and was later seen on security footage asking a hotel staff member to escort a female visitor to his room.
News About Nigeria reports that the woman left after spending about two hours with him.
However, the former NIS boss did not exit his room afterward.
Concern grew when one of his close associates, a senior military officer, decided to trace him to the hotel after failing to reach him.
Upon arrival, the officer saw his car parked outside and asked the hotel staff about the owner.
When they opened his room, they found him sitting lifeless in a chair.
Police officers were called to the scene, documented evidence, and moved the body to a hospital for further examination.
Investigators are now looking into the circumstances of his death, and efforts are being made to track down the woman who was last seen with him.
Authorities have urged the public to disregard false claims of abduction, emphasizing that a thorough investigation is ongoing.
“Effort is in top gear to effect the arrest of the lady.
“We urge the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified information, including claims of kidnapping that may incite fear or panic.
“The FCT Police Command is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mr. Parradang’s death.” police said.
