Moshood Jimoh Takes Over as Lagos Police Commissioner, Replaces Olawale

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Moshood Jimoh as the 41st Commissioner of Police for Lagos State.

The announcement came in a statement sighted by News About Nigeria on Monday from the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani.

Before this new role, Jimoh served as the Commissioner of Police at the Ports Authority for the Eastern Ports.

His career includes key positions such as Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Airport Police, Finance and Administration, and General Investigation.

Jimoh has attended various professional training programmes, including the Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri and specialized security courses in China, the United States, and South Korea.

He has also received a Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year from the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.

Jimoh takes over from Ishola Olanrewaju Olawale, who became the 40th Commissioner of Police for Lagos State in September 2024.

“Jimoh, who hails from Kwara State, was former Force Public Relations Officer and later Deputy Commissioner, Airport Police; Deputy Commissioner, Finance and Administration and Deputy Commissioner General Investigation.

“He has undergone several professional trainings which include; Combat operations Course, Mobile Training College Maiduguri; African Union Mission in Darfur Sudan; Weapons of mass destruction counter measure first responder Training Institute, United States; training on social construction and management Reform China Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong China; Training on Maritime Rescue and salvage for Developing Countries, China Maritime Academy Ningbo, China and Training on anti hijacking techniques and tactics for developing countries, Yunnan Police College kunmung, China. He was also at the Police training Institute, Seoul South Korea”, the statement read in part.
