Popular Nigerian radio personality, Chinedu Emmanuel, known as Nedu Wazobia, has stepped down from his role on The Honest Bunch Podcast, citing the need to protect his peace and family amid a growing controversy involving social commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman.
The controversy erupted following a recent episode of the podcast, where reality star Deeone alleged that Verydarkman had an interest in men. Rather than addressing the claim directly, Verydarkman redirected the conversation toward Nedu, releasing private conversations and making personal allegations about Nedu’s relationships with women.
As the situation escalated on social media, Nedu announced his decision to leave the podcast on Friday through his official Instagram account.
“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me. Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics,” Nedu stated.
He continued, “But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll. In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself.”
The media personality expressed gratitude for his time on the podcast but acknowledged that the negative attention surrounding his name had become unbearable.
“I sincerely hope this decision brings an end to the negativity and allows The Honest Bunch Podcast to continue thriving,” he added.
Nedu’s exit comes as The Honest Bunch Podcast, created by Glitch Africa in 2022, continues to gain popularity for its candid discussions on societal issues. The talk show, which features co-hosts Husband Material, Deity Cole, and Ezinne, has become a platform known for bold conversations, often sparking heated public debates.
The development has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some supporting Nedu’s decision to prioritize his well-being, while others lament his departure from a show known for its unfiltered takes on social issues.
In a statement obtained by News About Nigeria, Nedu concluded by expressing hope for the podcast’s future:
“I remain committed to fostering dialogue in ways that encourage meaningful engagement and growth, and I look forward to new opportunities that align with that vision.”
As investigations continue into the allegations and social media remains abuzz with opinions, the future of The Honest Bunch Podcast without Nedu remains to be seen.
