Senate Confirms Tinubu’s Ministerial Nominees

President Bola Tinubu is set to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) with President Cyril Ramaphosa in Cape Town, South Africa, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, News About Nigeria Reports.

The BNC will be preceded by a ministerial meeting today, December 2, according to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

The high-level meeting, which will be held at the South African Parliament Building, will focus on a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.

“The 11th session of the BNC will feature deliberations across eight working groups, each focusing on specific areas of mutual interest, such as political consultations, defence and security, trade and investments, banking and finance, and more,” Onanuga stated.

Building on commitments made during the leaders’ June 2024 meeting in Johannesburg, the two presidents will review progress since the 10th session held in Abuja in November 2021.

Officials from both countries are also expected to sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements during the meeting.

The Bi-National Commission, established in 1999, serves as a platform for fostering high-level dialogue and cooperation between Nigeria and South Africa in areas such as diplomacy, trade, and security.

This year’s session is particularly significant as it marks the Commission’s 25th anniversary, marking the enduring partnership between the two nations.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including state governors, ministers, and senior officials.

He is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the BNC.
